Volleyball Heads to George Mason for Weekend Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball will hit the road this weekend for three games at George Mason. The Bears will take on George Mason, Radford and Robert Morris during the Mason Invite on Friday (Sept. 8) and Saturday (Sept. 9).
Brown will start the weekend with two matches on Friday, beginning with George Mason at 12 p.m. and Radford at 4 p.m. The Bears will finish up the weekend with a match against Robert Morris on Saturday at 11 a.m. Only the George Mason match will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN
- The Bears are 4-0 coming into the weekend after wins against Le Moyne, Stonhill and two against Rhode Island. The Bears dropped just one set over the four matches.
- Brown brings in one of the best offenses in the country as the Bears are 11th in the NCAA in hitting percentage (.320), 13th in the nation in kills per set (14.54) and 14th in the assists per set (13.46). All three marks are also tops in the Ivy League through the first week of play.
- The Bears currently set fourth in the NCAA with 2.62 aces per set and are third in opponent hitting percentage, allowing teams to hit just 0.087.
- Individually, Beau Vanderlaan is currently second in the NCAA with a .564 hitting percentage. Vanderlaan has hit above .500 in three of her four matches this season and has twice gotten to double-digit kills.
- Jessie Golden leads the Ivy League and is 14th in the NCAA with 5.23 digs per set. Golden has anchored Brown's backline defense with double-digit kills in all four matches and two matches with 20+ digs.
- Brown has started the season with a well-balanced offense as six different players are averaging at least 2.00 kills per set.
- Cierra Jenkins is guiding the Brown offense with 9.92 assists per set, the second-most in the Ivy League.
- George Mason is 2-4 on the season, picking up both wins last weekend, beating NJIT and Saint Peter's.
- As a team, the Patriots are hitting .188 and allowing opponents to hit .186 on the season. Camille Larkin leads George Mason with a .311 hitting percentage. Nani Spaar leads the roster with 3.57 kills per set and two other Patriots are averaging over 2.00 kills per set.
- Radford is 1-5 overall this season, earning a five-set win over Iona last weekend.
- The Highlanders are one of the worst offenses in the NCAA, hitting .080 through the first two weeks of the season. The team is also allowing opponents to hit .233 on the season.
- Olivia Flanagan leads Radford with 2.15 kills per set and Sierra Moore is second on the team a 2.05.
- Robert Morris holds a 2-3 record with wins over Niagara and Canisius. The Colonials will take on both George Mason and Radford before facing the Bears.
- Abby Ryan is leading RMU's offense with 3.85 kills per set and two other players are averaging 2.50 kills per set. As a team, RMU is 59th in the NCAA with 13.40 kills per set.
- On defense Robert Morris is allowing opponents to hit .242. The Colonials are near the bottom of the NCAA with 0.90 blocks per set but are averaging 14.60 digs per set.
- This will be the second time Brown has faced off against George Mason. The Bears lost the first meeting between the two teams.
- Brown will be taking on Radford for the first time in program history.
- The Bears are 1-1 all time against Robert Morris.
