Football Set for Friday Night Ivy Opener at Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Coming off a thrilling final-minute win over Bryant in last weekend's season opener, the Brown football team is set to open up Ivy League play this Friday night with a trip to Harvard Stadium to take on the Crimson. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

2023 BROADCASTS
This season, all of Brown's games, home and away, will be streamed live on ESPN+, except for the Bears' away contest at Penn on Friday, October 27 which will be nationally televised live on ESPNU.
There will be a new format this season regarding radio/audio coverage of all Brown football games. All 10 games will no longer air on the radio and will instead feature live audio broadcasts through the Brown Audio Network on BrownBears.com/Audio. The audio broadcast for all games can be accessed online through the audio links on the team's schedule, as well as on your phone through The Varsity Network app.
OPENING KICKOFF
• Brown and Harvard will look to start the season 2-0 after opening week wins.
• Brown took down Bryant 29-25 in their season opener, scoring the game-winner on a 4-yard pass to Dillon Golden with 13 seconds left.
• Harvard scored the game's first 38 points en route to a 45-13 rout of the University of St. Thomas last Friday. The Crimson scored the game's first 38 points and had three scoring plays of 69+ yards, including a 96-yard pick-six.
• This marks the third consecutive matchup at Harvard between the two schools to be contested on a Friday night.
• Harvard has won the last 11 matchups overall and the last 11 matchups at Harvard Stadium, with the Bears last road triumph coming back in 1998.
WILLCOX RAKES IN THE HONORS
• Senior quarterback Jake Willcox was a driving force behind Brown's big season-opening win at Bryant. He finished the game 36-for-49 passing, setting a new career-high with 357 passing yards, surpassing his previous benchmark of 356 by one yard, which he had set last season against Bryant. His three touchdown passes tied a career-high.
• Trailing by three with just under a minute remaining, Willcox went 4-for-6 for 76 yards on the Bears' final drive, capping it with a four-yard TD pass to tight end Dillon Golden.
• He was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, a Gold Helmet recipient from the New England Football Writers Association, and was named to the Honor Roll for the FedEx Ground FCS National Awards.
THE GOLDEN RECEPTION
• Sophomore tight end Dillon Golden's first career touchdown with 13 seconds left proved to be the game-winner, helping Brown defeat Bryant 29-25.
• Golden finished his rookie year of 2022 with eight catches for 46 yards in nine games.
AIRING IT OUT
• Brown was the only team in the Ivy League to pass for more than 300 yards on opening weekend, throwing for 357.0.
• The 357.0 passing yards per game average ranks No. 1 in FCS, with most other teams having played at least three games this season.
STARTING STRONG
• Wes Rockett got Brown's drives off to great starts last week by averaging 23.5 yards per kick return, including a career-long 37-yard return on the opening kickoff.
His 23.5 yards per kick return rank second in the Ivy League and 26th in FCS.
FIRST IN FIRST DOWNS
• Brown picked up 27 first downs in its season opening game to lead the league through one week.
RUSHING ATTACK
• Stockton Owen led Brown in the season opener with 52-yard rushing, tying his career-high he set last season vs. Harvard.
• Franzoni rushed for 31 yards on nine carries at Bryant.
• DeLucia led the Bears with an average of 4.0 yards per carry last season. He ranked second with 29.67 rushing yards per game.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
• Brown had 11 different players catch as pass last week at Bryant.
• Brown has had at least 10 different receivers catch a pass in nine of the last 11 games overall.
• Graham Walker had seven catches for 72 yards at Bryant, including a key 30-yard reception in the final minute to set up the game-winning touchdown.
• Wes Rockett had 123 yards receiving (on 8 catches) and 94 kick return yards were each the second-highest totals of his career.
