PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown senior linebacker John Perdue was recognized with another prestigious national honor on Tuesday, being named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-American. The Houston, Texas native becomes Brown football's first Academic All-American since Ben Rosenblatt in 2017-18, and the first to be named a First Team honoree since Michael Yules in 2013-14.
Perdue is one of 50 players from across Division I (both FBS and FCS) to be voted an Academic All-American, including one of just 17 players from the FCS level. He is one of three Ivy Leaguers to be an Academic All-American, joining Cornell's James Reinbold (First Team) and Dartmouth's Konstantin Spork (Second Team).
Back in December, Perdue was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press, the first Brown player to earn All-America honors from the AP since multi-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Zak DeOssie in 2006. He was also previously named Phil Steele Second Team All-Ivy, as well as Honorable Mention All-Ivy.
As one of the Bears' captains this season, Perdue started all 10 games at middle linebacker, leading the team and ranking second in the Ivy League with 88 total tackles (8.8 tackles per game) and three interceptions. He added four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, 3.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
Brown won its last two games of the 2025 season to finish 5-5 overall.
