Hofflander & Peus Take Thriller to Win Hall of Fame Invitational
9/17/2023 4:20:00 PM | Women's Tennis
After winning the first set, 6-2, Hofflander and Peus faced adversity and fell behind 4-1. The pair fought back to force a tie-break and took match point in exciting fashion.
"It was such a privilege for our players to compete on the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame once again," said Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "Lindsey and Phoebe played great doubles today, especially in the first set of their finals, playing textbook aggressive tennis with limited errors. In the second set, they had to come back from 1-4 down and saved seven set points with some clutch returns and net play. They showed a lot of fight, resilience and ability to problem-solve in crucial moments of the match."
Senior Olivia Mariotti and junior Addison Ahlstrom battled in the fifth-place match, but ended up falling to finish sixth among the 22 doubles teams.
Brown has emerged victorious in the two years of the ITHF Invite. Ahlstrom and Britany Lau '23 won the tournament last year.
