PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The head coach of Brown gymnastics for over 30 years, and over four decades of involvement in the sport, Jackie Court has been inducted into the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Hall of Fame. Court was part of the organization's class of 2023, which was enshrined at the organization's annual coach's convention in May.
Court – the first woman of color to coach at Brown - began her involvement with Brown gymnastics in 1969 and served as the head coach of the program until her retirement after the 2001 season. Court earned ECAC Coach of the Year honors in both 1997 and 1999 as well as NCAA Northeast Region Coach of the Year accolades in 1999. Over the course of her career, she served as the State Chairperson of USA Gymnastics, as the District Chairperson for the National High School Federation, and on the advisory boards for the Women's Sports Foundation and New England Women's Fund. In 1994, she earned a Special Service Award from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches, and in 1996 she gained induction into the Northeast Women's Hall of Fame.
Court remained heavily involved in gymnastics and lived in South Kingstown, Rhode Island after her retirement. She passed away in April 2020.
