Men's Soccer Announces Team Awards at End of Season Banquet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team held its awards banquet on Saturday afternoon at The Graduate Hotel and presented its team awards and gave out university letter sweaters to the freshman and senior classes.

Cliff Stevenson Award / Heinz Kuebel Award – Jamin Gogo Peters
- Most Valuable Player and Top Offensive Player
- Named Second Team-All Ivy League, College Soccer News All-Freshmen and Academic All-Conference
- Finished with seven goals and one assist for 15 points
- Tied for fourth in the Ivy League in goals
- Defensive Player of the Year and contributed the most overall to the team
- Played in 14 games with 11 starts on defense
- Played all 90 minutes in eight games
- In memory of John Sherman '62, Captain of the 1961 Brown Men's Soccer Team, and fighter pilot and Captain in the United States Marine Corps, John Sherman emphasized the qualities of leadership, scholarship, and dedication. Captain Sherman displayed an unrivaled respect for his team, his college, and his country, and fought and died bravely in Vietnam representing the country he loved.
- The Award is presented to the player who, by virtue of his exemplary dedication, mental and physical toughness, and sense of duty and honor, best represents the legacy of Captain John Sherman.
- Presented to the first-year player who best exemplifies sportsmanship through dedication; perseverance; fair play, leadership, spirit, and support of his teammates and coaches, as selected by his teammates. The award was instituted in 2001 in honor of Britton Chichester, who died in an automobile accident in 1989 during his senior year of high school. Britton is the son of David Chichester, class of 1967 and long-time Chairman of the Friends of Brown Soccer and former co-captain and goalkeeper.
