No. 5 Women's Crew to Race at 48th Eastern Sprints

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 5 Brown women's crew is set to compete in the 48th annual Eastern Sprints on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Bears will compete in several heats throughout the morning before the final heats in the afternoon, beginning with the A4 heat at 8 a.m.

Brown is one of 21 teams competing in the 2023 Championship and one of six Ivy programs in the field alongside Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton and Radcliffe.

Brown's A4 crew will race alongside Columbia, Boston University, Cornell, Georgetown, and Marist.
Â
Bruno's First Varsity 8 crew will race their heat at 8:30 a.m. against BU, Northeastern, Cornell, Georgetown, and Marist.

The Second Varsity 8 crew races at 9 a.m. with Columbia, Northeastern, Cornell, Temple and, Colgate.
Â
Brown's Third Varsity 8 continues the competition at 9:30 a.m. in a heat against Radcliffe, Michigan State, Georgetown, Temple.

At 10 a.m., Brown's B4 boat hits the water against Columbia, Radcliffe, Michigan State, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Boston College.

The C4 crew then races in the Grand Final at 1:15 p.m. against Rutgers A, Syracuse, Michigan State, BU, Boston College, and Rutgers B.
The remainder of the Grand Finals continue at 1:55 p.m. with the 3V8 followed by the B4 at 2:15 p.m., the A4 at 2:50 p.m., the 2V8 at 3:20 p.m., and the 1V8 at 3:55 p.m.

Brown has captured the team championship at the Eastern Sprints 11 times and the Varsity 8 Championship a total of nine times from 1988 through 2022. The Bears did not compete in the Eastern Sprints from 2013 through 2021.

Following Sunday's races in Worcester, Brown returns to Lake Quinsigamond to compete in the 2023 Ivy League Championships on Sunday, May 14.
