No. 9 Women's Crew Takes Bronze at 2026 Ivy Championships

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - No. 9 women's crew finished competition at the 2026 Ivy Championships this morning, earning podium finishes in four of the five Grand Finals on the day.Â
The Bears came in third place in the team standings, finishing with a total of 64 points. Yale had the most points with 82, followed by Princeton with 80.Â
The Varsity Eight, coxed by Summer Balla-Kellett and stroked by Sydney Chait-Walter, took home a bronze medal for the Bears with a final time of 6:17.138. This is the second consecutive season that Brown's V8 has finished third at the Ivies and marks the eighth time since 2012 that they've secured a podium finish at the event.
The Second Varsity, coxed by Caitlyn Roddy and stroked by Isla Wilding, also finished in third place after a riveting final 500 meters against the Yale Bulldogs. The Bears posted a final time of 6:18.904, while the Bulldogs crossed the finish line in 6:18.691, separating the two crews by a narrow 0.213 seconds. This result represents the third consecutive podium finish for the 2V8 at the Ivies.Â
The Third Varsity, coxed by Katherine Mitchell and stroked by Olivia Tingley-Kelley, won gold in their Grand Final with a final time of 6:35.874. The next closest crew was Yale, with a time of 6:37.200. This is the third time since 2012 that the 3V8 has won gold at the Ivies, with the other first place finishes coming in 2024 and 2017.Â
The A4, coxed by Brooke Halvorsen and stroked by Calissa Snyder-Cox, became the third Brown boat to win a bronze medal after posting a final time of 7:09.596. The Bears came close to winning a silver medal in the race, trailing second place Harvard by 1.540 seconds.
The B4, coxed by Fiona Daly and stroked by Francesca (Kiki) Fraim, finished in 6th place with a time of 7:48.411.Â
The Bears will now wait and see if they qualify for the 2026 NCAA Championships in Gainesville, Georgia. The selection show is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.Â
