Women's Crew Closes Ivy League Invite with Eight Wins

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown women's crew closed the Ivy League Invite with eight wins in 10 races on Sunday morning on Lake Carnegie in Princeton.

Picking up wins in both of its races were the First Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and the First Varsity 4. The Second Varsity 4 and Third Varsity 8 each won one race on the day.
"We had a successful series of races at the Ivy Invitational this weekend," said John Murphy, the Loyalty Chair for Women's Crew. "Every member of the team raced and every member of the team contributed to the strong results."

Brown's 1V8 started the racing at 8:07 a.m. and clocked a time of 6:17.020, which was over six seconds ahead of Columbia (6:23.380) and 11 seconds faster than Oregon State (6:28.484). In its second race of the day at 10:14 a.m., the 1V8 (6:26.736) was ahead of both Virginia (6:33.972) and Dartmouth (6:59.876).

The 2V8 also won both of its races. At 8:28 a.m. the crew raced to a time of 6:23.723 to beat Oregon State (6:28.639) and Columbia (6:42.337). Later in the day at 10:35 a.m., the 2V8 (6:32.775) was well in front of both Virginia (6:42.195) and Dartmouth (7:07.861).

Going two-for-two on the day as well was the A4. In its first race at 8:49 a.m., the boat defeated Oregon State (7:24.583) and Columbia (7:25.729) with a time if 7:15.845. In its final race of the Invite at 11:17 a.m., the 1V4 clocked a time of 7:11.708, crossing the finish line ahead of Virginia (7:14.446) and Dartmouth (7:59.930).

The 2V4 and 3V8 both picked up one victory on the day. The 2V4's win came in its first race at 9:03 a.m. with a time of 7:19.570, beating Columbia (7:22.058) and Oregon State (7:23.712). At 9:31 a.m. it was the 3V8 winning with a time of 6:45.560 ahead of Columbia (6:48.130) and Dartmouth (7:03.430).
