Women's Water Polo Cruises Past Saint Francis, Falls at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Brown women's water polo had another split of conference games on Saturday. The Bears started the day with a big win over Saint Francis before falling to No. 12 Michigan.
GAME 1: Brown 17, Saint Francis 5
Brown's offense exploded in the first game of the day beating Saint Francis 17-5. The Bears had six players score two goals each in the win.
Brown was tied 2-2 with the Red Flash after the first quarter as the Bears got goals from Alexandra Love and Sierra Martin.
The Bears fell behind early in the second before going on a 6-0 run that reached into the third quarter. Claire Pisani got the scoring going and was followed by goals from Emily Suong, Sophie Golub and Madeleine Poinssonnier. Ella Palmer scored two goals to start the third to end the run and put Brown up 8-3.
After a Saint Francis goal, Brown put the game away with a 7-0 run. Claire Poissonnier, Love and Zoe King closed out the scoring in the third. Sabrina Shipley, Tallulah Clancy, Martin and Madeleine Poissonnier scored in the fourth to close out the run. Clancy and Claire Poissonnier scored late in the fourth to close out the scoring for the Bears.
Roxanne Hazuka finished with six saves, picking up the win in goal.
GAME 2: No. 12 Michigan 11, Brown 10
A late rally for the Bears was not enough as Brown fell to No. 12 Michigan by one goal to finish the day.
Brown had four players score two goals in the game and outscored Michigan 5-1 in the final quarter. Brown managed just two goals in the first half, coming Ella Palmer and Alexandra Love but trailed the Wolverines.
In the third quarter, goals from Lily Weiser, Siena Berry, and Palmer made the score 10-5 heading to the final quarter.
Love, Berry, Claire Poissonnier and Madeleine Poissonnier all scored to start the four as Brown used a 6-1 run to pull within one at 10-9 with two minutes left in the game. Michigan scored 14 seconds later but Brown pulled within one again after Claire Poissonnier scored with 41 seconds on the clock. That was all Brown could muster as the Wolverines closed out the game to pick up the win.
UP NEXT
Brown will close out the weekend against Bucknell on Sunday at 9 a.m.
