Men's Lacrosse Takes Third Straight with Road Win at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Brown Bears (3-1, 0-0 Ivy League) jumped to an 8-1 first half lead and held off a Stony Brook comeback bid to take a 17-12 win at LaValle Stadium on Long Island Saturday.
Aidan McLane paced the Bruno offense with five goals and seven points with Jack Kelly adding four goals and an assist.
"Great TEAM win," said head coach Mike Daly. "I'm proud of our players and assistant coaches for preparing our team."
The Bears jumped to an early lead as Aidan McLane, Matteo Corsi, and Ben Locke all recorded goals in the opening 4:25. Stony Brook called timeout following Locke's goal.
Locke added his second of the game halfway through the quarter to make it 4-0 with Brown's fifth EMO goal of the season.
Christian Lowd ended the Brown run with 3:28 remaining in the frame with Stony Brook's first goal of the afternoon in transition. Aidan McLane responded with his second of the game 18 seconds later push the lead back to four.
Brown pushed the lead to seven with consecutive goals from Jack Kelly, Brandon Bergner, and Corsi. The goals from Kelly and Bergner came just 17 seconds apart.
Stony Brook chipped away at the Brown lead and made it 8-4 at the half. Jonathan Huber and Dylan Pallonetti tallied man-up goals and Will Button recorded a goal with six seconds left in the half.
After Blake Behlen and Aidan McLane traded goals to start the seocnd half, the Seawolves rattled off four straight to tie the game at 9-9.
Following Pallonetti's goal to even the game, Matthew Gunty won the ensuing faceoff and scored his first of the season. Kelly added his second of the game with Corsi picking up the assist to make it 11-9 before the end of the frame.
Aidan McLane and Behlen again traded goals to start the fourth but it was the Bears who went on the ensuing scoring run. Goals from Kelly, Bergner, and Kevin Sweeney in a 77-second span pushed Brown's lead back to five at 15-10.
Kelly added his fourth of the game with 3:51 remaining and Aidan McLane added his fifth with 13 ticks left to push the score to 17-12.

- Stony Brook finished the game with a slight edge in shots, 45-44. The Bears fired 28 shots on goal compared to 22 for the Seawolves.
- Both goalies recorded double-digit saves as Connor Theriault finished with 10 and Jamison MacLachlin recorded 11 saves.
- Stony Brook held a 33-32 advantage in ground balls.
- Brown finished 19-for-32 at the faceoff X with Gunty going 19-for-30 with seven ground balls.
- Five Bears recorded multiple goals and six Bears recorded multiple points in the victory.
