CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Jade Iginla of the Brown women's hockey team has been named the ECAC Co-Rookie of the year, as announced on Thursday at the conference banquet.
Â
From Lake County, B.C., Iginla put together one of the best seasons by a Brown women's hockey player in recent memory. The freshman finished the season with 17 goals and six assists for 23 points. Her goal total ranked tied for seventh in the ECAC at the conclusion of the regular season and is the most by a Brown player since the 2006-07 season.
Â
Iginla created offense when her team was under pressure, sending home three short-handed goals, which was the most in the conference and tied for fourth most in the nation.
Â
Iginla had four multi-goal games this season, including a hat trick at RPI on Feb. 3. She also tallied two game-winning goals, first at Stonehill on Oct .22 and the second at RPI.
Â
Only the second Rookie of the Year award winner in Brown women's hockey history, Iginla joins two-time Olympian Tara Mounsey '00, who won the honor in 1997.
