Strong Second Quarter Propels Women’s Basketball to Series Sweep over Dartmouth

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown outscored the Big Green 24-11 in the second quarter en route to an 82-76 victory on Friday evening in the Pizzitola Sports Center. With the win, the Bears improved to 9-11 overall and 2-6 in Ivy League play, while Dartmouth fell to 2-20 and 0-8 in conference action.
The trio of Isabella Mauricio, Grace Arnolie and Kyla Jones shined as the guards combined for 65 points. Mauricio connected on five triples and went a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe for 27 points, Arnolie posted 21 points and Jones registered a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds to go with four assists and three steals.
Gianna Aiello came off the bench with four blocked shots.

Friday's victory marked the fourth time the Bears drain 10 or more three-pointers in a game this season… tonight was Mauricio's seventh 20+-point game as a Bear and second in as many games… Arnolie posted her second 20-point game of the season… Brown forced 26 turnovers.

Dartmouth began the game going 10-of-19 for a 25-18 lead after one. The Bears came out firing in the second, led by Mauricio's three triples in the opening minutes of the stanza to give Brown its first lead of the game. Brown outscored the Big Green 24-11 in the quarter for a 42-36 lead at the break.
Mauricio led all scorers with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from deep, and Jones posted 10 points, five rebounds and two assists in the first half. Aiello came off the bench with two blocked shots.
The third and fourth were back-to-back affairs, but Brown's defense limited the Big Green to 27 percent shooting in the final quarter of regulation, sweeping the series over Dartmouth with a win in the second wave of league play.
