Bears Overpower San Diego For Seventh-Straight Win

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Brown women's basketball (9-3) cruised to 70-61 win over San Diego (4-9) to earn its seventh-straight win. The victory is also the sixth-straight win away from home for the Bears.
Brown led the entire way, holding the lead for 38:16. The Bears jumped out to an 10-0 lead and never looked back, leading by 20 points at halftime and 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Isabella Mauricio led Brown with a season-high 22 points, hitting six threes. Kyla Jones finished the game with 17 points and matched her career-high with seven assists. Olivia Young and Alyssa Moreland each had 13 points. Moreland also added career-highs with 13 rebounds and six assists.
The Bears hit nine of their ten threes in the first half as Brown grew its lead. It is the third time in the last four games that Brown has hit 10 threes as a team after not hitting 10 threes in any of its first eight games.
Brown finished 43 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive end, that led to a 20-7 advantage in second chance points. It was the second-highest number for total and offensive rebounds on the year.
Grace Arnolie hit a three to start the scoring for the Bears and Mauricio followed to double the Bears lead. Back-to-back layups by Jones made the score 10-0. Mauricio hit two more threes as the quarter continued and Brown pushed its lead to 16-4. The fourth three of the quarter for Mauricio put 19-5 and after a Moreland layup, Olivia Young hit a three with seven seconds on the clock give Brown a 24-9 lead after one.
San Diego pulled within 11 before another three by Young. Brown later used a 9-0 run with baskets coming from Moreland, Young, Jones and Giana Aiello gave the Bears a 21-point lead. The Bears got a layup by Jones and a three by Mauricio to take a 44-24 lead into halftime.
Two buckets by Moreland put Brown up 48-26 early in the third but the Toreros pulled within 15 before Mauricio answered with a layup. Brown hit four free throws with under a minute left in the quarter to continue to hold San Diego at bay and lead by 17 with 10 minutes to play.
The Bears' biggest lead of the game came in the fourth quarter when Moreland hit a turnaround to give Brown a 68-47 advantage.
