
Andre Reis Promoted to Full-Time Women's Soccer Assistant Coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer Head Coach Kia McNeill has announced that volunteer assistant Andre Reis has been promoted to a full-time position on the coaching staff.
"I am excited to be able to promote Andre into a formal assistant position with our staff," said McNeill. "He has been an integral part of our success for the past six years, and been a part of all four of our recent Ivy Championships here at Brown. Andre has a hand in all aspects of the program, but he specializes in working with our goalkeepers which has always been a strong suit with our team."
Over Reis' six seasons on staff working the goalkeepers, Brown has consistently ranked in the top four in fewest goals allowed in the Ivy League, including leading the conference in the category in 2022 and 2019. This season the Bears are ranked 37th in the country in goals against average.
Reis was a key part of the 2019 United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year. The team set a record for shutouts in a season with 13 and He helped guide the Bears to a historic season in 2019 in which the team earned its first Ivy League title and NCAA appearance since 1994.
Reis has coach many standout goalkeepers while a Brown, including Kayla Thompson '22, who posted a 22-6-3 career record, and senior Clare Gagne, who finished the 2023 season with a 9-3-3 record with six shutouts.
"I think Andre is one of the best goalkeeper coaches in the game, and the growth, development, and confidence our goalkeepers have shown under his tutelage is incredible," said McNeill. "Now that the NCAA has changed the rules with regards to assistants, there was no question who we wanted in that role. I am a big believer in continuity of staff, and it's great that we are able to reward Andre for the hard work and commitment he's shown over the years."
A native of Fall River, Mass., Reis is a 2017 graduate of UMass Dartmouth. He was the starting goalkeeper in his time there, as well as the starting goalkeeper at Massasoit Community College. He has been coaching for Scorpions Soccer Club ECNL for the past three years and also serves as the College Coordinator for the club.
