Men’s Basketball Falls to Delaware 67-59

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Kino Lilly Jr. moved into sixth place in program history in three-pointers made and finished with 22 points, but Delaware's (5-0) second half surge gave the Blue Hens a 67-59 victory over Brown (1-5) on Friday afternoon at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center.
Brown will take on Kansas City on day two of the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Lilly Jr. drained five triples on Friday to surpass Mark McAndrew and Matt Sullivan on the program chart.
Nana Owusu-Anane finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Aaron Cooley pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds. Felix Kloman added two three-pointers and seven boards and Malachi Ndur came off the bench with six points and seven rebounds.
FIRST HALF
A late surge by the Bears put Brown in front by six with less than a minute remaining in the opening stanza. Lilly Jr. went 4-of-8 from deep for 12 points to lead all scorers and Owusu-Anane added 10 points. Brown collected eight offensive rebounds for nine second-chance buckets.
SECOND HALF
Delaware scored 11 unanswered to begin the second and regain the lead, 41-31, before the under-16 media.
The Blue Hens led by 17 with 5:44 remaining and Brown's run made it a nine-point ballgame before Delaware could secure the opening-round victory.
NEXT
Tomorrow's opponent, the Roos, fell to UNCG in the first game today, 76-64.
