Women's Basketball Hosts In-State Foes Providence and Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's basketball returns home to the Pizzitola Sports Center for two games against Ocean State foes. The Bears will take on Providence on Wednesday (March 15) before hosting Rhode Island on Friday (Nov. 17).
Both games this week will be streamed on ESPN+.

Wednesday's game against Providence will be Brown's First Responder & Service Member Night. First Responders and Service Members can show their ID to get two free tickets to the game.
Friday's game against Rhode Island will be High School Night. Local high school teams are able to submit for free tickets for their team.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown picked up its second win over a Big East school in the last three seasons as the Bears won at Georgetown on Sunday, 45-43. The Bears won at St. John's back in 2021.
- Grace Arnolie reached double-figures for the third time this season, scoring 13 points, including the go-ahead three with less than one minute left in the game. Arnolie has now scored in double-figures in a team-high 10-straight games dating back to last season.
- Olivia Young provided a spark off the bench scoring a career-high nine points. The freshman hit two threes and made three free throws, including one with 15 seconds left in the game to push Brown's lead to two.
- Arnolie ranks 12th in the NCAA in three point attempts this season and 69th in the NCAA in made threes on the year.
- The Bears held an 8-1 advantage in made threes in the game at Georgetown. Brown also got to the free throw line more successfully than the Hoyas, going 9-for-13 while Georgetown went just 4-for-5.
- Brown has held their last two opponents to 3-for-23 from three-point range.
- After being outrebounded in the first two games on the season by a combined 18 rebounds, Brown outrebounded Georgetown by one in the matchup on Sunday. Mya Murray and Alyssa Moreland led Brown with six rebounds each.
- Providence enters the game with a 2-0 record, earning wins against Hampton and Vermont. This will be the first road game of the season for the Friars under direction of first-year head coach Erin Batth.
- The Friars bring in the 21st ranked scoring defense in the NCAA, allowing just 46.5 points per game. Providence is 13th in the NCAA in blocks per game with seven. Olivia Olsen leads the team with three blocks per game (15th NCAA).
- Providence is led on offense by Olsen, who is averaging 19.5 points per game and Grace Efosa with 15.5 points per game.
- The Friars are shooting 85 percent from the free throw line early this season, ninth-best in the nation.
- Providence has won the last two meetings with Brown, including a 62-44 win last season. All-time, Providence is 21-9 against the Bears.
- Rhode Island will travel to Maine on Tuesday night before playing the Bears on Friday. The Rams are 2-0 and have won their first two games by an average of 45.5 points.
- Early this season, Rhode Island brings in the fifth-best scoring defense in the nation, averaging 39 points allowed per game.
- Defense has been a strong suit for the Rams as the team is forcing 27 turnovers per game and has a +20 turnover margin, the second best in the NCAA.
- Dee Dee Davis has led the offense with a 10.0 assist to turnover ratio and is tied with Teisha Hyman for the team lead in assists per game (5.0).
- Four Rams are scoring in double-figures to start the season, led by Tenin Magassa with 13.0, followed by Hyman and Maye Toure at 12 points per game each.
- Rhode Island has won the last two meetings with the Bears but the two teams have not met since 2019.
