CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Brown men's soccer traveled to Harvard on Saturday and played to a scoreless draw on Jordan Field.
The Bears move to 3-4-3 overall and stay unbeaten in the Ivy League with a 1-0-2 record to remain in second place in the league standings. Harvard is now 2-3-5 and is tied with Brown at 1-0-2 in the conference.
Brown controlled the possession for the majority of the match and came away with a 19-8 shots advantage, including 6-2 on goal. It was the first clean sheet for senior goalkeeper Hudson Blatteis.
"It was good performance tonight, a little bit of a tale of two halves," said Assistant Coach Andy Parker. "In the first half we dominated on the ball and attacked, but could not finish any of our chances. In the second we were under pressure and the boys didn't break and defended well for long stretches. Always good to get a clean sheet and a point on the road and we're looking forward to training tomorrow for our next match on Tuesday."
Senior Charlie Adams had the first shot on goal in the 19th minute and sophomore Jamin Gogo Peters followed with one of his own in the 26th minute. Sophomore Langdon Gryglas and Peters each had shots later in the half. All-in-all, the Bears outshot Harvard, 12-1, in the first half and had four corners to one for the Crimson.
Blatteis was tested for the first ime in the 51st minute, and again in the 75th minute, and saved both shots. Senior Scott Gustafson had one final shot on goal in the 87th minute that was denied by the Harvard keeper.
Both teams put pressure on in the closing minutes, but were unable to score before the clock hit zeroes.
Brown is on the road next for a nonconference match at UMass Lowell on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
