Ahuja and Mullins Lead Cross Country at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. – The Brown men's and women's cross country programs competed at the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Friday morning at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx.
The Brown women's squad finished in seventh place out of 36 teams with 237 points, while the men totaled 425 points to take home 17th out of 34.
For the first time this season, sophomore Nimrit Ahuja led the women's team's pack in 32nd place overall out of 288 runners, completing the 6K course in 21:46.3. Senior Stephanie Kriss followed in 44th place in 22:00.3, while freshman Olivia Fraga was the third Bear to finish in 50th place overall (22:03.7). Junior Isolde McManus (22:09.0) and senior Katie Orchard (22:11.0) rounded out Brown's top five, with sophomores Julia Schriefer (22:34.1) and Emily Mrakovcic (22:43.4) completing the top seven.
On the men's side, junior Miles Mullins led the Brown pack in 31st place out of 310 finishers in the 8K with a time of 24:39.7. Senior Evan Sherman was second for Brown in 53rd place with a time of 24:54.6, followed by sophomore Jason Markopoulos in 116th place in 25:34.5. Senior Jesse Edelstein (25:38.4) and junior Tommy Gaffey (25:45.7) completed Brown's top five, while junior Sam Colton (25:54.6) and freshman Matthew Doherty (26:15.9) rounded out the top seven.
Due to a recent change in the schedule, both squads will next compete at the Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park in Boston on Sunday, October 22 for their final tune-up ahead of the Ivy League Heps. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11:40 a.m. while the men's championship race is set for 12:10 p.m.
