Bears Drop Road Game to St. Lawrence
1/6/2023 9:09:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
CANTON, N.Y. - Brown women's hockey dropped its first road contest in over a month, 5-0, to St. Lawrence Friday night at Appleton Arena.
The Saints (10-11-0, 4-4-0 ECAC) scored two goals in the first period, one in the second and two more in the third. Four different players found the back of the net for St. Lawrence with junior Aly McLeod scoring twice.
The Bears (5-10-1, 3-6-0 ECAC) finished with 17 shots on goal.
"The team played well for stretches of the game in terms of matching our opponents physicality and executing faceoffs and play off the puck," said Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi. "Ultimately our opponent capitalized on their scoring chances and we did not. The story today is that our power play didn't produce. I believe our women will always compete so now it's a matter of not being denied on offense."
St. Lawrence's first score came with 12:15 left in the first on junior Kristina Bahl's goal from freshman Katino Duscio and junior Suyeon Eom. Junior Anna Segedi made it a 2-0 lead at the 4:06 mark of the period off assists from sophomore Taylor Lum and Bahl.
Mcleod then netted two consecutive goals. Her first came late in the second from Segedi and senior Chloe Puddifant, and her second was early in the third from senior Shailynn Snow and Duscio to make it a 4-0 game.
Senior Rachel Teslak capped it off late in the third with Duscio on the assist.
Brown is back at it on Saturday at 3 p.m. at No. 11 Clarkson.
