
Track and Field Lands Eight Top-10 All-Time Marks at Pair of Weekend Meets

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Four members of the Brown track and field program put up seven separate marks that landed in the top-10 in program history this weekend at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge. The two-day meet at The Armory in NYC saw senior jumper Altan Mitchell extend his No. 6 mark in program history with a victory in the triple jump, in addition to six top-10 marks from the women's team.
Brown's women saw three athletes combine for six marks that rank in the top 10 all-time in program history, including three from junior Lauren Yeboah-Kodie, two from sophomore Jada Joseph, and one from thrower Chidinma Agbasi.
Brown was also represented by a group of athletes at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University, which was also a two-day event spanning Friday and Saturday.
WOMEN
Jada Joseph leapt her way to the No. 2 all-time indoor long jump mark in program history at 6.05 meters (19' 10.25"), finishing third in the event. The mark is 25 centimeters beyond her previous PR from earlier this season, which had previously sat No. 10 all-time at Brown. Yeboah-Kodie also improved her top-10 all-time mark by leaping 6.01 meters to finish fifth in the event and move into fourth on the school's all-time list. The duo finished third and fifth, respectively, in the college long jump event.
Joseph and Yeboah-Kodie weren't done there, both rewriting the top-10 list in the triple jump as well where Yeboah-Kodie finished runner-up in the event, tying her personal record at 12.64 meters, which ranks fifth all-time in program history. Joseph set a new career-high with her fourth place finish at 12.31 meters, which moves her into 10th all-time.
Yeboah-Kodie also moved into fifth on the school's all-time list in the 60 meter hurdles, turning in a time of 8.63 seconds in the prelims, before finishing eighth overall in the finals.
Two Brown throwers also landed in the top 10 on the program's all-time weight throw list. Agbasi moved up one spot with her toss of 17.34 meters, moving from seventh to sixth all-time in program history. Gallucci also posted a strong 16.84-meter throw.
Freshman Nene Mokonchu and sophomore Rudecia Bernard each came one centimeter shy of their personal records by clearing 1.70m in the high jump invitational, tying for fourth overall.
In the shot put, Kendra Ezeama placed fourth overall out of 24 at 14.43 meters.
Anjoli Mathew set a new PR of 57.23 to lead Brown in the 400 meters.
In 4x400 meter relay, Brown earned a point from its team of Emma Gallant, Mathew, Kate Scanlan and Jenna Lowrey with a time of 3:52.52.
MEN
Mitchell took home the gold in the triple jump with his winning leap of 15.13 meters, increasing his hold on the No. 6 mark in program history in the event. Joseph Oduro also tallied points for Brown with his personal-record 14.76m jump.
Senior Sidarth Raman scored in sixth place of the high jump after clearing 2.00 meters. Sam Hurcomb grabbed points in eighth place of the long jump at 7.07 meters.
Daniel Sarisky took second place in the 60 meter dash at 7.00 seconds and scored points in seventh place of the 200 meters (22.05). Junior Marcus Gillespie set a new personal-best of 8.22 seconds in the prelims of the 60 meter hurdles.
The Bears 4x400 relay squad scored in ninth place from Jason Estrada, Jack Kelley, Sarisky and Joshua Lim (3:22.03).
JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC
At the Terrier Classic in Boston on Friday, men's senior Abayomi Lowe finished sixth out of 57 in the open 60 meter dash with a new PR of 7.13 seconds. Ethan Gardner set a new PR of 22.46 in the 200 meters, and Aaron Siff-Scherr (2:25.68) and Jesse Edelstein (2:27.67) led Brown in the 1,000 meters, both setting new PRs.
In the women's competition on Saturday, Adrienne Usher (9.12) set a personal-record in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing seventh.
Freshman Olivia Takla surpassed her PR by over seven seconds in the 1,000 meters (2:55.01). Stephanie Kriss represented the Bears in the mile run with a finish of 4:58.85. Isolde McManus broke the 10-minute mark in the 3,000 meters for the first time in 9:45.01, as did Isa Stronski (9:45.85), Lily Harding (9:52.48) and Nimrit Ahuja (9:53.75).
Brown will next compete on Friday, February 3 at the Crimson Elite and Multi, hosted by Harvard.
