Bears fall in close contest at Columbia

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's swimming and diving dropped a close meet at Columbia, 156-144, on Friday (Jan. 13). Jenna Reznicek had a strong day for the Bears, earning three individual wins and a pool record.
Reznicek began her day with a win in the 100 backstroke, clocking a pool-record time of 53.96. Reznicek also picked up a win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.15. The sophomore's last win of the day came in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.04.
"It stings to drop such a tight meet on the road, but swimmers, divers and coaches can all stand by how our team competed on the whole today," said Kate Kovenock, Mary Ann Lippitt Women's Swimming/Diving Coaching Chair. "We have a big final push through championship season and I am very excited for what's on the horizon."
Sara Barrett continued her strong season with a win in the 1000 freestyle (9:59.04), and a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:53.74).
Brown earned wins in both diving events with Elena Yeh winning the 3-meter event (284.85) and Bowie Krawczyk winning the 1-meter (279.83). Yeh finished second in the 1-meter with a score of 265.80.
The Bears finished the day with a win in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Kelly Dolce, Yvonne Jia, Zehra Bilgin and Morgan Lukinac finishing the race in 3:22.95.
