Volleyball to play two matches at UConn on Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – Brown volleyball will wrap up non-conference play with two matches at UConn on Saturday. The Bears will start the day against UConn at 1:30 p.m. before playing Lindenwood at 4:30 p.m.
The game against UConn is currently set to stream on FloSports.

ABOUT THE BEARS
- The Bears are coming off of a weekend to Texas where Brown went 1-2. The losses came against Rice and Texas Tech with the win being a five-set victory against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. In the win against the Islanders, Brown overcame an 0-2 deficit to win a game for the first time since 2018. It was the first win for the Bears in five sets this season, having lost to Air Force and Bryant earlier in the year.
- Brown and UConn will meet on the court for the first time since Sept. 9, 2005. Brown lost to the Huskies 3-0 in the match.
- This will be the first match between Brown and Lindenwood in the history of the two programs.
- The Bears have finished with at least eight blocks in four of the seven matches this season. Twice, Brown has gone over the double-digit mark with 18 blocks at Bryant and 12 against A&M-CC.
- Sophia Miller continues to lead the team with 3.61 kills per set. Miller has reached double-figures in four of the seven games this season and posted 19 kills in the Bears last match against A&M Corpus Christi. Miller has also been consistent on the backline for the Bears, collecting double-figure digs in all but one match this season. Miller has had three double-doubles on the season.
- Freshman Mariia Sidorova found major playing time against the Islanders in the Bears' last match. Sidorova took advantage of the chance and finished with a career-best 16 kills. The 6-0 freshman had finished had four kills to her name before the last match. Sidorova had eight digs against A&M-CC, two behind her season best of eight at Bryant.
- Beau Vanderlaan continues to be a force in the middle of the lineup for Brown, averaging 2.18 kills per set and leading the team with a .277 hitting percentage. Vanderlaan is second on the team with 0.93 blocks per set, including a season-best seven blocks against Bryant.
- Junior Kate Danaher dished out a career-best 55 assists against A&M-CC, falling one dig shy of her second double-double on the year. Danaher had her second-career 50+ assist game after handing out 53 assists against Air Force earlier this season.
- Sophomore Victoria Vo leads the defense with 3.61 digs per set. Vo has had double-figure digs in all but one match and hit 20+ digs for the third-time this year, collecting 21 against Texas A&M-CC.
- Freshman Jessie Golden is one of four Bears to average 2.00 digs per set. Golden is averaging 2.14 per set and reached double-digits for the second time this year with 12 digs in Brown's last match. Golden's first match of her career was a 16-dig game against Rhode Island in the season opener
- UConn enters the weekend 3-5 on the year with wins over Duquesne, St. Francis Brooklyn and SMU. UConn will play Lindenwood before taking on Brown.
- The Huskies are hitting .185 as a team and allowing opponents to hit .261 on the season. Caylee Parker (2.56 kills per set) and Jasmine Davis (2.39 kills per set) are the top point scorers for UConn but are hitting .142 and .125 on the year, respectively.
- Madi Whitmire guides UConn's offense with 8.82 assists per set.
- Kennadie Jake-Turner and Taylor Pannell are leading UConn's net defense with 0.93 and 0.82 blocks per set, respectively.
SCOUTING LINDENWOOD
- Lindenwood is 3-3 two weekends into its first Division I season. The Lions are coming off a five-set victory over North Carolina A&T in their previous match.
- Lindenwood has been evenly matched with their opponents statistically throughout the year with the only major disparity coming at the net. Lindenwood has been outblocked 77-56 on the season.
- Three Lions are averaging over 2.81 kills per set with the leader on the roster being Madilyn Dement at 2.95 per set. Taylor Gentemann is second on the team (2.86) and Nyah Wilson is third (2.81).
- Jessie Seidel is first on the team with 5.14 digs per set and two other Lions are averaging over 3.00 per set.
