Field Hockey Hits the Road to Take on Towson; VCU

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The unbeaten Brown Bears (4-0, 0-0 Ivy League) hit the road for the first time under head coach Britt Broady, taking on Towson (2-4, 0-0 CAA) on Friday (Sept. 16) before squaring off against VCU (3-2, 0-0 A10) on Sunday (Sept. 18).
Both games will be played on the campus of Towson with Friday's game scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and Sunday's game scheduled to begin at noon.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the road trip with a perfect 4-0 record after compiling wins over St. Francis, Miami (Ohio), Bryant, and Northeastern at Goldberger Family Field. Notably, Brown's overtime win over Miami marked the program's first win over a ranked opponent since 2013.
- Five Bears have tallied five or more points through the first four games, led by senior captain Lindsey Ross with six assists and eight points. Ross picked up five assists in the two wins at Goldberger last weekend and leads the NCAA with 1.50 assists per game.
- Sophomore Mikayla Walsh is tied for second in the NCAA with 1.25 assists per game. Walsh has five assists through four games.
- Freshman Lexi Pellegrino leads the Bears with three goals. She has tallied at least a point in all four games this season and a goal in each of the last two games.
- As a team, Brown's 3.50 goals per game paces the Ivy League and ranks seventh in the NCAA alongside Michigan State. Brown's penalty corner offense has produced several goals and the Bears rank seventh in the nation with 8.25 corners per game.
- Between the pipes, senior Jodie Brine has started all four games and holds a 1.49 goals against average and .786 save percentage. Brine's save percentage ranks second in the conference and 15th in the NCAA through the early part of the season.
- Towson enters Friday with a 2-4 overall record with wins over Ohio and Longwood. The Tigers have fallen to Appalachian State, Davidson, Richmond, and Rider.
- Georgia Beachley paces the Tiger offense with four goals and eight points through six games. Gianna Antone and Sarah Hatfield both rank second on the team with two goals apiece.
- Towson's offense ranks 49th in the NCAA with 1.67 goals per game. The Tigers have struggled to create penalty corner opportunities with just 4.33 corners per game to rank 63rd among 77 Division I programs.
- Tessa Scheenstra has made five starts in goal and holds a 3.03 goals against average and .610 save percentage.
- Friday marks the first-ever meeting between Brown and Towson in series history.
- VCU enters the weekend with a 3-2 overall record. After falling to 17th-ranked Delaware and William & Mary to open the season, the Rams have rattled off consecutive wins over Lafayette, Queens, and Columbia.
- Bridget McCormick and Skyler Padgett lead VCU's offense with two goals and six points apiece through five games. Georgia Carr-Brown and Litiana Field rank third on the team with four points apiece.
- VCU's offense ranks 29th in the NCAA with 2.40 goals per game. The Rams are tied for 64th in the NCAA with 4.20 penalty corners per game.
- Sheridan Messier has made all five starts in goal for the Rams and holds a 1.40 goals against average and .760 save percentage. Messier's goals against average ranks 26th in the nation.
- Sunday marks the first-ever meeting between Brown and VCU in series history.
