HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cornell jumped in front right off the bat with a two-run homer from Nathan Waugh in the bottom of the first, then added another homer on a solo shot from Wils Guy in the second to take the early 3-0 lead. An unearned run crossed the plate later in the inning to bring the lead to 4-0.
- Brown tagged four hits to get two runs back in the bottom of the second, using three straight singles on a hit-and-run from Lang, an RBI single from Hipp, a knock from Burley, and a sac fly from Morphew.
- Cornell added another run on a triple and wild pitch in the top of the third to get the lead back to three, then added another on a leadoff homer in the fourth to extend the lead to 6-2.
- From there, the Bears rallied with seven unanswered runs, and scored in each of the last four innings to take the lead for good, starting when Burley scored on a wild pitch in the fifth.
- Brown batted around in the sixth, sending nine men to the plate and scoring four times to take the lead. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Burley grounded one through the left side to score Crawford and cut it to 6-4, and Morphew followed with his second sac fly of the afternoon to left field to make it a one-run game.
- Rappoli capped the inning by sending a double down the right field line to score Burley and Hipp to put the Bears in front 7-6
- Crawford padded the lead by crushing the first pitch of the bottom of the seventh out to right for his second homer of the season, and later scored a run on a balk to make it 8-6.
- After Cornell got one back in the top of the eighth, Brown got the lead back to three in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double from Jared Johnson.

QUOTES FROM THE COACH: GRANT ACHILLES
- "It was a special weekend. I think it was epitomized today by having the moms out there and families around for the senior day celebration. To see our guys on the field taking advantages of the opportunities to perform was a really special day to wrap up their careers."
- "I think this group showed a lot of resilience, just continuing to hang in there and stick to it. I think that is going to translate to a lot moving forward for us too. This team has a lot of youth they're going to power through those tough at bats and those games regardless of the score."
