PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Recently graduated Brown quarterback EJ Perry is headed to the NFL, after signing a free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday following the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Perry's signing follows a tremendous and historic career for the Andover, Massachusetts native, who spent two seasons in a Brown uniform after transferring from Boston College. In 20 career games with the Bears in 2019 and 2021 (2020 season was canceled due to the pandemic), Perry ascended to No. 2 on the school's all-time list for career completions (546), total offense (7,113) and completion percentage (.633 - min. 220 completions). He also sits third all-time at Brown in passing yards (5,981) and touchdown passes (45).
Perry capped a tremendous senior season in 2021 by becoming the second player in program history to be invited to the NFL Combine, where he finished first among quarterbacks in the three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle, and second in the 40-yard dash (4.65), vertical jump and broad jump. He was named the MVP of the East-West Shrine Bowl after going 13-for-18 for 241 yards and three touchdowns, and added 14 rushing yards.
A Stats Perform Third Team All-American, Perry was also a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, and won the Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Year. He was named the winner of the Bulger Lowe Award by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston as the top offensive player in FBS/FCS Football in New England. For the second consecutive season, he earned All-New England honors and was a First Team All-Ivy selection. Perry finished the season 295-for-444 passing for 3,033 yards and 23 touchdowns, while rushing for 402 yards and seven touchdowns. His 343.5 yards of total offense per game led the Ivy League and ranked eighth nationally. He finished the year leading the Ivy League in seven different offensive categories, and set the league records for consecutive games with a touchdown pass (16) and consecutive games with 300+ passing yards (8).
In his first season with the Bears as a junior in 2019, Perry set the Ivy League record and led all of FCS Football in total offense (3,678 yards/367.8 ypg).
