Women's Crew Takes 7th at 2022 NCAA Championship

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 crews both posted sixth-place finishes and the Second Varsity 8 boat finished seventh in the final races of the 2022 NCAA Championship held Sunday at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Bears tallied 100 team points to finish seventh overall, just one point shy of sixth-place Cal and one point ahead of eighth-place Ohio State. Texas repeated as National Champions with a first-place finish in the V8 Grand Final and 124 team points.
"While we wanted better results this morning, we are extremely proud of the effort made by every member of this team and seventh in the nation is a strong finish," said head coach John Murphy. "We want to acknowledge the unwavering commitment of our senior class throughout the season and through their Brown careers. They will be missed."
The Bruno V4 crew posted a time of 7:19.229 to finish sixth in the Grand Final to pick up 17 team points. Washington and Texas held the top-two slots in the race through the first half, but a late charge from Princeton vaulted the Tigers to the front of the pack at the finish line to capture the V8 National Title.
Ohio State charged from fourth to second in the final 500 meters with Texas, Stanford, and Washington finishing third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
The Bears won the 2V8 Petite Final for the second Petite Title crown in program history. Brown jumped to the early lead and never looked back, finishing with a time of 6:29.349 to hold off an Ohio State (6:30.503) charge.
Brown picked up 32 team points with the 2V8 finish. Yale captured the Grand Final crown in the 2V8 for the national crown.
The Bears wrapped up the 2022 campaign with a sixth-place finish in the Varsity 8 Grand Final to pick up 51 team points. Brown clocked a time of 6:26.592.
Texas won the V8 Grand Final to pick up 66 team points and repeat as Varsity 8 and Team National Champions. The Longhorns amassed 124 points to match Stanford and pick up the National Title with the higher V8 finish.
Princeton (118), Washington (112), and Yale (102) rounded out the top-5 team finishers.
The Ivy League saw three programs finish in the top-10 and four in the top-11 of the team standings. The Pac-12 also had three top-10 finishes.
