Men’s and Women’s Track Each Take First Place at Mark Young Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It was a great day in the Elm City for the Brown track and field teams, with both the men's and women's teams taking first place at the Mark Young Invitational at Yale.
The Bears received six individual first place finishes from its men's team and seven from the women, including the No. 2 all-time triple jump from Altan Mitchell, two top-10 marks from Daniel Sarisky, and a pair of No. 2 all-time marks in program history from Maddie Frey in the women's 100 and 200 meters.
Overall, the men compiled 166 points with Southern Conn. State following with 117. Yale (90), Stony Brook (58) and Columbia (49) rounded out the top five. The women's team amassed 177 points, well ahead of Yale and Columbia who tied for second with 84 points apiece, followed by Stony Brook (72) and Fordham (67).
WOMEN
In the sprints, Brown earned a 1-2 punch in the 100m dash from Frey (11.76) and Sydney Scott (11.87), who led the way atop the podium. Frey added a second gold in the 200 meters, breaking the tape in 23.99 while Arielle Desir and Emma Gallant took fourth and fifth in the 200m. Both of Frey's finishes rank No. 2 on the all-time list in program history, with her 100 meter time coming just one-hundredth of a second shy of the all-time mark.
Amy Willig scored with her fifth place finish in the 800m, finishing in 2:13.18 for fourth place.
The Bears swept the podium with three strong performances in the 100m hurdles with Lauren Yeboah-Kodie (14.07), Brooke Ury (14.20) and Daryn Davis (14.27) going 1-2-3. Yeboah-Kodie's time ties her for sixth all-time at Brown. Anjoli Mathew also took home first place to capture the title in the 400 hurdles, narrowly missing her PR at 1:03.65.
In the 5,000m, Lily Harding (17:37.91) and Isolde McManus (17:50.40) each set new personal records with their third and fourth place finishes, respectively.
In the relays, Brown's 4x100 team (Ury, Frey, Desir, Scott) took second overall, with two teams scoring points in the 4x400m, led by the runner-up quartet of Gallant, Frey, Desir and Mathew.
Over in the jumps, Brown received points from Lily Reynolds (1.60m), Chiamaka Odenigbo, Rudecia Bernard, and Lily Dumas in the high jump.
In the long jump, Scott turned in a big 6.02-meter leap to take first place, tying her for sixth all-time at Brown. Joseph followed in third (5.75m), and Lauren Stern took second place in the triple jump at 11.77m.
Nicolette Ducharme took runner-up with her 11.18-meter shot put and was one of three Bears to score in the hammer throw.
Sophia Gallucci won the hammer throw at 54.18m, a new personal-best that solidifies her hold on the No. 6 ranking in program history. Mackenzie Palinski (51.83m) also landed on the podium in third place.
In the javelin, Erin McMeniman, Mackenzii Phillips and Kelly Rothenberg all scored team points, with McMeniman (42.08m) taking home the gold and Phillips (38.36) following right behind in second place.
MEN
Starting in the sprints, Sarisky took runner-up in the 100 meters (10.64m) and third in the 200 meters (PR-21.39), with his 100-meter time tying him for fourth all-time in program history, and his 200m time ranking seventh in program history. Alex Wilson and Kevin Boyce scored in third and fourth places, respectively in the 100m.
Bretram Rogers took home a pair of gold medals in both the 110m (14.07) and 400m hurdles (54.81). Marcus Gillespie took runner-up in the 110m hurdles, while Pearson Brooks (57.97) took home third place in the 400H.
Brown got points in the 5K from both Jared Yabu (14:39.60), who placed second overall, and a personal-record from Samuel Colton (15:32.12).
Geordie Young set a new personal-best in the steeplechase to take third place (10:04.17), and Brown edged out Stony Brook for gold in the 4x100 meter relay with Abayomi Lowe, Sarisky, Boyce and Wilson combining for the gold.
John McNeil (2.07m), Sidarth Raman (1.99m) and Numan Maloney (1.99m) took 1-2-3 in the high jump, and Patrick McManus (PR-6.96m) and Samuel Hurcomb (6.89m) scored in the long jump in second and third places.
Mitchell set a new personal record at 15.60m to win the triple jump, marking as the No. 2 triple jump in program history. Zachary Love (14.77m) helped complete the 1-2 sweep in the triple jump at 14.77m.
Jono Pelusi took third place in the pole vault, clearing 4.56 meters.
In the throws, Kegan Schroeter added two podium finishes on his day, taking first place in the hammer throw (61.05m), and third in the discus (45.09m). Ronan Folan also contributed to the team's score with four points with his fourth place throw in the discus.
