#14 Men's Lacrosse Heads to Ithaca for Ivy Matchup Against #8 Cornell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 14th-ranked Brown Bears (7-4, 2-2 Ivy League) travel to Ithaca, New York to take on the eighth-ranked Cornell Big Red (10-2, 3-1 Ivy League) in a crucial conference matchup on Schoellkopf Field on Saturday (Apr. 23).
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at noon and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Saturday with a 7-4 overall record and 2-2 Ivy League mark. The Bears have won two straight over top-10 teams, taking a 12-10 road win at eighth-ranked Penn (Apr. 9) and a 20-13 home win over fifth-ranked Yale (Apr. 16).
- Offensively, Brown ranks third in the Ivy League and 20th in the NCAA with 13.45 goals scored per game.
- Devon McLane leads the Bears in goals (35), assists (19), points (54), shots (95), shots on goal (62), and man-up goals (9). He is second in the NCAA in man-up goals, trailing only Marquette's Bobby O'Grady (10). He ranks 13th in the NCAA in goals per game (3.18) and 14th in the NCAA in points per game (4.91),
- Darian Cook ranks second on the team in points (37) and assists (16) and ranks in the top-10 in the Ivy League in points per game (3.70) and assists per game (1.60).
- Brown's man-up offense is second in the Ivy League and ninth in the NCAA with 19 goals in 38 attempts (.500).
- Defensively, Brown allows 11.91 goals per game to tie for fifth in the conference and 41st in the NCAA.
- Connor Theriault has started 10-of-11 games this season and holds a .523 save percentage and 11.82 goals against average. He earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors following his 15-save performance against Yale (Apr. 16).
- Brown's man-down defense leads the conference and ranks 11th in the NCAA with 27 kills in 37 attempts (.730).
- Matthew Gunty leads the Bears at X with a .532 win-rate (141-265) to rank fourth in the Ivy League and 35th in the NCAA. He leads the Bears with 72 ground balls and is atop the Ivy League and 16th in the nation with 7.20 ground balls per game.
- Cornell enters Saturday with a 10-2 overall record and 3-1 Ivy League mark. The Big Red dropped its first non-conference game since 2019 last Saturday (Apr. 16) at home against 12th-ranked Army, falling 17-10.
- Notably, Cornell holds wins over Ohio State, Yale, and Harvard this season. The lone Ivy loss came against Penn.
- Offensively, Cornell ranks fourth in the Ivy League and tied for 21st in the NCAA with 13.42 goals per game.
- John Piatelli leads the Big Red with 41 goals through 12 games. He leads the conference and is tied for sixth in the NCAA with 3.42 goals per game. Piatelli's 4.50 points per game rank sixth in the conference and tied for 20th in the nation.
- CJ Kirst leads Cornell with 58 points and 21 assists. His 4.83 points rank fourth in the Ivy and 15th in the NCAA, just behind McLane.
- Kirst and Piatelli have scored 48.5% of Cornell's goals this season and account for 43.5% of Cornell's points.
- The Big Red have 16 man-up goals in 36 attempts (.444) to rank fifth in the Ivy and tied for 19th in the NCAA.
- Defensively, the Big Red allow 11.25 goals per game to rank third among Ivy programs and 31st in the NCAA.
- Chayse Ierlan has started all 12 games this season and holds a .515 save percentage and 10.99 goals against average.
- Ierlan has struggled recently and was pulled after 15 minutes against Syracuse (Apr. 11) and after 17 minutes against Army (Apr. 16).
- Cornell's man-down defense has allowed 12 goals in 31 attempts (.613) to rank fourth in the conference and 45th in the NCAA.
- Angelo Petrakis has taken the majority of faceoffs this season and holds a .477 win-rate (134-281). He leads the Big Red with 67 ground balls.
- Brown enters Saturday as the 14th-ranked team per the USILA Coaches Poll, the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll. The Bears rank ninth in the RPI.
- Cornell enters the weekend ranked eighth in the USILA Poll and the Inside Lacrosse poll. The Big Red are 11th per the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll. In the RPI, Cornell ranks eighth.
- Five Ivy teams rank in the top-9 of the RPI and six rank in the top-15.
- Six Ivy teams are ranked in all three major polls. Dartmouth is the lone unranked Ivy program.
- Four Bears have 20 or more goals this season: Devon McLane (35), Brian Antonelli (22), Ryan Aughavin (21), and Darian Cook (21).
- No Ivy League team has more than two players with 20+ goals this season.
- McLane enters Saturday with 35 goals this season and ranks 21st in Brown history for goals in a season.
- He needs 11 goals to crack Brown's top-10 and match Oliver Marti '93 (1993), Andy Towers '93 (1993), and Tad Barrows '80 (1980) for ninth-most in Brown history.
- With 54 points in 2022, McLane is tied for 24th in Brown history.
- He needs 17 more points to match Dylan Molloy's 2017 campaign for 10th in Brown history.
- Junior Colin Hart continued his stellar play against Yale (Apr. 16), causing a turnover for the fourth straight game.
- The Garden City, New York native added two ground balls for his fourth straight game with multiple scoops.
- Hart recorded his first career goal early in the second half against Yale, receiving a pass from Matthew Gunty and beating Jared Paquette with a rifle of a shot.
- Just over six minutes later, Hart scored his second career goal to give the Bears a 14-9 lead over the fifth-ranked Bulldogs.
- Hart's goals marked the first from a pole for the Bears since 2018, when Jake Miller '18 scored seven goals and JJ Ntshaykolo '18 scored once.
- Junior attackman Trevor Glavin stepped in for the injured Darian Cook against Yale (Apr. 16) and tallied two goals and four assists for his first collegiate points. He added a pair of ground balls in the win over the Bulldogs.
- Sophomore midfielder Jack Kelly matched Glavin's performance, scoring twice and added two helpers for his first collegiate points. He added one ground ball against Yale.
- Senior midfielder Reed Moshyedi chipped in a goal and assist against Yale (Apr. 16) to push his point streak to four games.
- The Potomac, Maryland native has eight points in the last four games.
- He recorded two goals and two assists for a career-high four points at Penn (Apr. 9).
- Moshyedi ranks sixth on the team with 13 points and is one of eight with double-digit points.
