Bears Set for UConn Northeast Challenge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown track and field programs will hit the road this weekend to compete at the UConn Northeast Invitational. The two-day event kicks off on Friday morning and will run through Saturday afternoon.
All of the action will get underway at 11 a.m. on Friday morning with the multis, followed by select jumping and throwing events throughout the afternoon, along with the steeplechase and 10K. On Saturday, field events will begin at 10 a.m., with the 4x100 relays leading off the track events at 11 a.m.
UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE
Date: Friday-Saturday, April 15-16

Competing Teams: UConn, AIC, Albany, Boston University, Brown, Central Connecticut, Colby, Columbia, Dartmouth, Iona, Maine, Massachusetts, MIT, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Rhode Island, Saint Francis Brooklyn, Sacred Heart, Southern Connecticut, Stony Brook, Southern Maine, Southern New Hampshire
The men's javelin group also enters this weekend ranked No. 4 in the nation with an average throw of 65.60 meters, trailing only Mississippi State, Duke and Oregon.
Entering this weekend, Brown's men's team leads the Ivy League in five events including Bretram Rogers (110H, 400H), Altan Mitchell (LJ, TJ), and Kegan Schroeter (HT), with Chris White (3rd/javelin) and Kevin Fairchild (4th/javelin) and Joe Grula (5th) all ranking in the top five in the javelin, with White and Fairchild ranking in the top 12 in the region. Last weekend at Arizona State, John McNeil turned in the Ivy's No. 2 ranked high jump of 2.12m.
The women's team boasts the Ivy's top two spots in the triple jump with Lauren Yeboah-Kodie and Daryn Davis leading the way. Erin McMeniman and Mackenzii Phillips both rank in the top five for the javelin.
