Sailing compiles pair of top finishes

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown sailing teams put together a pair of top finishes this weekend from April 9-10.
The women's team competed in two big events, finishing second out of 15 teams at the Emily Wick Women's Interconference at the US Coast Guard Academy. Charlotte Costikyan and Lily Shore finished fourth in A-division and Emily Mueller and Francesca Edmands had a dominant performance on their way to winning B-division. Both boats had really strong days on Sunday.
The women's team race team finished 3rd out of 9 teams at the Camel Team Race at Connecticut College with a 13-6 record, and put up another strong result on the women's team race circuit. Brielle Willoughby, Blaire McCarthy, Caroline Bayless, Emi Ruth, Savannah Young, Nora Ong, and Menasha Leport represented the Bears.
The coed team competed in two events, finishing eighth at the New England Team Race Championship at Harvard. Racing was really tight and the coed team had a 5-6 record overall, just missing the gold fleet round. Sailing for the Bears were Olivia Belda, Jack Murphy, Connor Nelson, Emma Montgomery, Hunter Zonnenberg, Madeleine McGrath, and Julia Reynolds.
The Bears also competed at the Mystic Lake Team Race at Tufts, finishing 5th out of 10 teams with a 7-7 record. William George, Jed Bell, Tommy Styron, Connor Macken, Jacqui Rice, Helen Horangic, Janelle Li, Olivia Miller, and Catherine Morrissette sailed for Brown.
Selection for the 2022 College Sailing Women's and Coed Team Race National Championships will be announced on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. by College Sailing. The Bears will host the Women's Team Race National Championship, April 23-24, at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club. The Coed Team Race National Championship will be held May 16-18 at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
Competition will continue for both the women's and coed team next weekend, April 16-17.
