Women's water polo falls just short against two nationally ranked teams.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Brown women's water polo fell just short against two nationally ranked teams on Sunday (March 6). The Bears lost to No. 14 Indiana 9-6 and dropped a 9-7 decision to No. 15 Wagner.
"It was tough playing two top-15 teams in the country. I felt our defense did a good job but we struggled offensively," said Felix Mercado, Head Coaching Chair for Water Polo. "We have to weeks to get it right before our next trip."
GAME 1: INDIANA 9, BROWN 6
Brown was led by two goals from Claire Poissonier against the Hoosiers but fell 9-6 against the No. 14 team in the country.
Katharine Knowles and Poissonier each scored first quarter goals but Indiana scored right before the end of the quarter to lead 3-2 after one. The Bears didn't manage a goal in the second and trailed 6-2 at the break.
Brown battled back in the third quarter with goals from Zoe King, Sophie Golub and Poissonier to trail 7-5 heading into the final quarter.
Sienna Berry tallied Brown's only goal in the final quarter as Indiana outscored Brown 2-1 in the last eight minutes. Berry also led Brown with four assists in the game.
Marley Presiado finished the game with three saves and seven steals in goal for the Bears.
GAME 2: WAGNER 9, BROWN 7
The Bears took a one-goal lead into the final quarter against Wagner but allowed three goals in the last frame to fall 9-7 to close play on the weekend. Dagmara Czajka and King each scored two goals for Brown.
The Bears fell behind 3-1 after one quarter with Czajka scoring Brown's only goal. Brown would respond, winning the second quarter 4-1 and taking a 5-4 lead into the half. Tallulah Clancy scored Brown's first goal, followed by King. Czajka capped Brown's 3-0 run with a goal to put the Bears on top. Afer a Wagner goal, King scored her second goal of hte quarter with eight seconds left in the half.
Bella Godlis put Brown back up 6-5 midway through the third and after another tying goal, Katie Klein put Brown up 7-6 witha goal with 2:41 left in the third quarter.
That would be Brown's last goal of the game as Wagner would shutout the Bears in the last quarter of play, scoring three goals, to secure the win.

Brown will be back in the pool on Sunday, March 20 at Mount St. Mary's for games against Michigan and Mount St. Mary's.
