Women's tennis falls to #40 FIU

MIAMI – The Brown women's tennis team fell to No. 40 Florida International 5-2 Monday afternoon. The Bears competed hard and gave the nationally ranked Panthers some trouble.

"We competed hard against a high-quality team in the tough conditions of the Florida heat," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "Olivia Mariotti and Gabby Soliman played with a lot of poise and clarity and closed out their matches with confidence, which is something we've been working on as a team. I would like to see an even more complete performance on Wednesday against FAU where every player on the team finds a way to problem solve and a way to stress their opponent."

Gabby Soliman and Olivia Mariotti both won their singles matches to earn the Bears' two team points. Ryan Peus took her singles match to a third set, but ultimately fell.
