
McNeil Wins High Jump Title as Men Take Fourth Place at Ivy Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Brown sophomore John McNeil captured the Ivy League title in the high jump on Sunday to help lead the Brown men's track and field team to a fourth place team finish with 56 points at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships at The Armory.
Altan Mitchell (triple jump) and Sidarth Raman (high jump) both earned Second Team All-Ivy honors for their runner-up performances. Bretram Rogers took third in the 60-meter hurdles, helping the Brown men's track team earn its highest finish at heps since 2018 when they finished third.
On the women's side, Lauren Yeboah-Kodie earned Second Team All-Ivy accolades with her runner-up showing in the triple jump, and Sydney Scott eared a third place finish in the 60 meter dash to land on the podium. As a team, Brown's women finished eighth with 28 points.
Overall at the two-day championship, Brown tallied two individual titles with McNeil and Kegan Schroeter, who won the weight throw on Saturday, along with three runner-up placements, all from Sunday, and four third place finishes. Individual champions in their respective events earn First Team All-Ivy honors while second place finishers are named to the second team.
MEN
McNeil leapt his way onto the podium for the second time in as many days, clearing 2.11 meters to win the high jump, following his third place long jump on Saturday. The Bears took home 18 points in the event as Raman set a new PR by clearing 2.08 meters to finish second for his first career all-league honor.
Mitchell took silver in the triple jump, leaping 15.12 meters on his third attempt to set a new PR, which ranks sixth all-time at Brown. Raman rounded out the top five by jumping 14.61 meters.
Rogers completed the hurdles in 7.98 seconds, earning him the bronze medal.
Senior Michael Neary placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 16.57m.
In the heptathlon, Jono Pelusi finished fifth with 5,017 points, a new personal record that ranks third all-time in program history. He took runner-up in the pole vault (4.80m) and won the 1,000 meters with a PR of 2:35.64 as part of the hep.
WOMEN
Yeboah-Kodie earned All-Ivy accolades in the triple jump at 12.53m, a new personal-best and putting her in the top five all-time in program history. Jada Joseph placed seventh overall in the event with her own PR of 11.91m.
Scott took third in the finals of the 60 meter dash by finishing in 7.62 seconds. After qualifying for the 60m hurdle finals, Daryn Davis crossed the finish line in personal record fashion in 8.67 seconds. Her preliminary time of 8.64 seconds ranks the fourth fastest in program history.
Kendra Ezeama represented Brown in the shot put, where she placed seventh at 13.87m. One day after finishing third in the pentathlon, Lily Dumas took seventh to lead Brown in the high jump, with Lily Reynolds in eighth, both clearing 1.68 meters.
In the relays, Brown's DMR team of Katherine Dokholyna, Emma Gallant, Amy Willig and Emily Kompelien finished in 11:44.49, just 0.3 seconds off a top-10 time in program history.
Next up for Brown is next weekend's ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston that runs from Friday, March 4-Sunday, March 6.
