CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown women's swimming and diving started its 2022 Ivy League Championships with two relays on Wednesday (Feb. 16).
The Bears teamed up for a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay to start the event. Jenna Reznicek, Kellie Willhite, Nell Chidley and Samantha Scott combined for a time of 1:40.22. Reznicek posted the fastest 50 back for the field to lead off the event.
The night closed out with the 800 yard freestyle relay and the team of Anna Podurgiel, Sara Barrett, Zehra Bilgin and Audrey Orange finished in seventh with a time of 7:21.75. Podurgiel's leadoff in the 200 free was the fastest time on the team this season.
"Kicking off with seven or eight swims being bests or season bests is a very nice start for us," said head coach Kate Kovenock. "Out of the two relay squads that swam tonight, only one had been on an Ivy relay before. This meet will take us a little while to unfold for us, we have a lot of day three and four doubles, so tomorrow we'll turn our focus to making the absolute most of the individual events we have in the morning and being ready for when its our turn."
After two events, Brown sits in a tie for fifth place overall.
The second day of the meet begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday with prelims and the finals will be held at 6 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed on ESPN+.
