Sam Scott's third-place finish highlights Day Two at Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A third-place finish by Sam Scott in the 50 freestyle highlighted Day Two for Brown women's swimming and diving at the Ivy League Championships on Thursday.
Scott finished less than a second behind first place, picking up the best individual finish of the meet for the Bears so far. Scott finished with a time of 22.81. Teammate Kellie Willhite finished first in the "C" Final with a time of 23.38. Sage Matsushima finished 26th overall with a time of 23.87 in the prelims.
"With eight of our 10 prelim swims getting to finals, plus our points from diving placement, we made good use of our lightest day event-wise," said head coach Kate Kovenock. "It will be very important for us to capitalize on tomorrow morning to keep things rolling in the right direction."
The 500 freestyle kicked off the night with Sara Barrett earning the best finish for Brown. Barrett clocked a time of 4:54.11 for a 16th-place finish. Three Bears finished in the "C" Final with Bella Antoniuk in 20th (4:56.16), Maria Iorini in 21st (4:58.27) and Audrey Orange in 23rd (4:58.68).
Anna Podurgiel swam a personal-best time of 2:01.65 to finish 10th in the 200 IM. Audrey Lukawski finished 18th (2:02.85) and Miku Takabayashi (2:05.56) finished in 26th. Podurgiel's time is the second-fastest time in Brown program history.
In the first event on the boards, Liv Mitchell finished in 13th in the 1-meter springboard with 249.95 points. Julia Feord just missed the consolation final, finishing 17th with 236.20 points. Alexa Brinker scored 206.25 points to finish 24th.
In the final event of the night, the squad of Scott, Jenna Reznicek, Willhite and Matsushima finished fifth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:32.75. Scott posted a personal best time of 22.75 in the leadoff leg of the event, a time this is third-fastest in program history.
Brown will continue competition in the Ivy League Championships with the prelims of Day Three beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday.
