The group will be recognized with a postgame ceremony on Saturday, February 12.
Mel Anderson – Defense – Plymouth, Michigan
What's your favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point?
Sweeping Cornell & Colgate our first season.
Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
The bond our class has formed over the last four years is something very cool. We have been through so much together and through it all, we have rallied together to support one another, on and off the ice.
Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind as you're nearing the end of your collegiate career?
I am feeling pretty sad going into Senior Day knowing my collegiate career is nearing an end, but I am trying to find the excitement within the day. I am excited for my family to watch me play my last game at Meehan. I am excited to celebrate/reminisce on all the great things us seniors have done throughout our four years here at Brown.
Some thoughts going through my mind as I near the end of my collegiate career are to enjoy every last moment of each practice and game. Also, I am taking the time to reminisce and reflect on my journey at Brown Hockey and take all the lessons I have learned with me.
What will you miss most about Brown Hockey?
I will miss the team dynamic as well as each member of the team. We have been fortunate enough to consistently have a great group of teammates.
What are your postgraduate plans?
Still undecided between going back to school or starting my career.
Megan Forrest – Forward – Enfield, Nova Scotia
What's your favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point?
Although I have many great memories, I'd have to say my favorite was recently when we beat Yale 4-1. At the time they were 7th in the country and the energy in the rink that day was amazing. It was a huge upset and gave our team the confidence we need moving forward.
Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
Since I'm a grad student, I didn't enter Brown with the current seniors but I am thankful that I have been able to watch them grow and stick around for an extra year with them. They are a class of great leaders and are always putting a smile on my face. I appreciate every single one of them and will miss them loads next year but can't wait to see where they all end up.
Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind as you're nearing the end of your collegiate career?
Bittersweet is the word that comes to mind when thinking about this weekend. I've been a part of this program for 5 years now and the difference between when I first stepped onto this campus and now is unbelievable. Coming into Brown I knew the hockey program was in developing years so my goal was to leave it a better place than when I arrived. It feels good knowing that myself and all of the players over the past five years have contributed to exactly that, and I can't wait to see this program continue to grow even though I'll be sad I am no longer a part of it.
What will you miss most about Brown Hockey?
There are loads of things I will miss but mostly I will miss the family that Brown Women's Hockey was to me. Freshman year I felt like I had a bunch of older sisters looking out for me and this year I've had the privilege of looking out for and supporting all the younger girls. Throughout my time here I've always had a group of girls I knew I could turn to when I was struggling whether it was hockey related or not.
What are your postgraduate plans?
I don't have any plans set in stone yet but I am looking to continue playing hockey and hopefully continue doing research along the side. My goal is to go to medical school and someday go into neurosurgery.
Lizzy Gross – Forward – Scarborough, Maine
What's your favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point?
My favorite Brown Hockey memory was definitely when we swept Colgate and Cornell my freshman year. It was so special to upset two huge ECAC teams, and share that memory with my teammates.
Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
I feel extremely lucky to have spent four years with some of my best friends. Doing pretty much everything together for four years definitely gives you a lifelong bond.
Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind as you're nearing the end of your collegiate career?
There's definitely a lot of emotions going through my mind at this point, as hockey has been such a huge part of my life since I was a little kid. It's really hard to think about it being over, but I'm extremely happy with what I've accomplished.
What will you miss most about Brown Hockey?
Brown Hockey has given me so much to be thankful for such as the friendships I've made as well as the opportunity to skate and train at such a high level. I'm certainly going to miss being on the ice every day, as well as being a part of this great program.
What are your postgraduate plans?
I'm currently still in the process of searching for opportunities, but I'm hopeful that Brown has set me up for great future success.
Hayley Kliczko – Goaltender – Niles, Illinois
What's your favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point?
My favorite Brown Hockey memory is our first home game this season. After having a year off and away from the sport we all love, it was a great feeling to be back and playing in Meehan Auditorium together again.
Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
I could not have wished for a better class. We all have very different personalities, but we gel so well together! These girls are my best friends and they all made my experience at Brown so much more than what I imagined. They will for sure be the hardest thing to let go after graduation.
Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind as you're nearing the end of your collegiate career?
Senior Day came way too fast. It feels like yesterday I was walking into Meehan for the first time my freshman year with all my high school equipment. I'm so thankful for all my former and current teammates during my four years at Brown. It is hard to believe the sport I've spent the last 16 years of my life training for is coming to an end, but I know hockey will always have some influence on my future life.
What will you miss most about Brown Hockey?
I'm going to miss my classmates the most. We are such a unified group and care a lot about one another. It is going to be hard moving out in May, but I'm so excited to see everyone's successful futures.
What are your postgraduate plans?
I plan on moving back home to Chicago with my family and pursue a Design/Mechanical Engineering job.
Shay Maloney – Forward – McHenry, Illinois
What's your favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point?
My favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point was my freshman year sweeping Colgate, Cornell, who were both ranked teams at the time.
Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
These girls have been my rock all throughout these past four years. I was fortunate enough to have a class that is so close knit through everything. They are truly the people I can always lean on for any situation. I wouldn't have made it through these past four years without them by my side.
Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind as you're nearing the end of your collegiate career?
When you're young you always think that there is more time, it's not really until you get to the end that you realize how limited your time truly is. It's crazy how fast the time goes. Definitely hard to believe that this chapter of Brown Hockey is almost over, but I wouldn't trade the experiences and the memories that have been made with this team for anything.
What will you miss most about Brown Hockey?
I'll miss the girls and all the memories we have made. Wouldn't want to get stuck in a McDonald's truck stop with Betty trying to fix the bus with a stick with any other group of girls. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
What are your postgraduate plans?
I plan on attending graduate school to get my MBA.
Tina Paolillo – Forward – East Haven, Connecticut
What's your favorite Brown Hockey memory up to this point?
As I reflect on my time being a member of the Brown Women's Hockey Team, my favorite memory was this season when we beat No. 7 ranked Yale University 4-1. I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of pride and happiness when the buzzer went off. After the game ended, we played our win song, swarmed our goalie and danced in the locker room together with the biggest smiles on our faces.
Describe the relationship with your fellow seniors.
My fellow seniors and I have a bond that I think is very uniquely special. We have been through so much as a class, but throughout the many ups and downs we remained optimistic and even look back and laugh about some of the things we have been through together and have grown from.
Describe the feeling going into Senior Day. What are some of the thoughts going through your mind as you're nearing the end of your collegiate career?
As I am nearing the end of my collegiate career, I can't help but think about how grateful and fortunate I am to have had the utmost support from my family, friends, coaches, and teammates throughout my athletic career. I truly cannot thank these individuals enough for shaping who I am today and the positive impact they have had on my life.
What will you miss most about Brown Hockey?
The thing that I will definitely miss most about Brown Hockey is spending time with my teammates, whether it was a big win, bus rides, or even getting on the line for conditioning, the sense of trust and hard work we all were so committed to made every moment spent together so fun and memorable.
What are your postgraduate plans?
I am currently going through the interview process for full time jobs, but I do know that in the future I plan to support and watch the team on their journey in years to come.
