Women's Hockey Closes the Year at Home Against UConn

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown women's hockey is back from the winter break and closes the year at home against the 14th ranked University of Connecticut Huskies from the Hockey East on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Meehan Auditorium.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- Friday night marks the 26th meeting between Brown and UConn in a series dating back to 1975.
- It's a close series with Brown leading 12-10-3. The Huskies have had the edge in recent years, going 7-1-2 over the last 10 meetings since 2008.
SCOUTING BROWN (5-8-1, 3-5-0 ECAC)
- Brown is looking for a fast start to the second half of the year. After starting the season 3-0-1, the Bears are 2-8-0 since in their last 10 games.
- Freshman Jade Iginla leads the team in goals (8) and points (11) with three assists. She also leads the way with a .200 shot percentage.
- Freshman India McDadi is second on the team with six points (2 goals, 4 assists).
- Sophomores Anna Hurd and Olivia Williamson are tied for second on the team with four goals, respectively.
- McDadi, junior Maya Mangiafico, sophomore Cameron Sikich and and junior Jess Ciarrocchi all have four assists.
- Junior goalie Kaley Doyle has a 2.40 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.
SCOUTING UCONNÂ (12-8-2, 7-7-2 HOCKEY EAST)
- UConn comes into Meehan Auditorium with a 12-8-2 record and are 7-7-2 in the Hockey East.
- The Huskies have been up-and-down throughout the season. After a five-game winning streak from Oct. 29 - Nov. 12, UConn has gone 2-4 in its last six matchups.
- Most recently, The Huskies defeated the University of New Hampshire, 1-0, to finish the first half of the year on Dec. 3.
- Corlyn Tormala leads UConn in assists (8) and points (13) with five goals. Jada Habisch leads the Huskies with seven goals adding five assists for 12 points.
- UConn's strength is its goalie. Tia Chan is ninth in the country with a 1.65 goals against average and is 11th in the nation with a .935 save percentage.
- Offensively, the Huskies are sixth in the Hockey East with 41 goals for 1.90 goals per game.
- UConn has a versatile offense with 10 players over five points.
- The Huskies' power play clicks at 14.5% (8-55) to rank eighth in the Hockey East. The penalty kill enters the weekend at 91.1% (45-49) which is first in the conference and third in the country.
