
Sailing adds Emma Montgomery as Assistant Coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Barry Family Director of Sailing Chair John Mollicone has announced the addition of Emma Montgomery '22 as an assistant coach. Montgomery sailed for Brown from 2018 to 2022.
Despite three seasons being impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Montgomery was part of six top-five national championship teams throughout her time at Brown. Competing as a crew she was part of the teams placing first at the 2019 ICSA Women's National Championship in Newport, RI, first at the 2019 ICSA Women's Team Race National Invitational at MIT, fourth at the 2021 ICSA Women's National Championship in Annapolis, MD, fourth at 2022 ICSA Women's Team Race National Championship at Brown, third at 2022 ICSA Open Dinghy National Championship at Tulane, and fifth at the 2022 ICSA Women's National Championship at Tulane.
In her senior season of 2021-2022, Montgomery received honors as an All-American Honorable Mention Crew, First-Team All-Ivy, Crew of the 2022 Ivy League Championship, Finalist for New England Women's Crew of the Year, All-New England Women's Crew, Academic All-Ivy. Montgomery was also an ICSA All-Academic Team selection from 2020-2022.
Her leadership experience on the Brown Sailing team includes holding positions as Team Captain (2021), Crew Captain (2020) and Freshman Captain (2019). In 2021, Emma received the Fredrick H. Wilson, Jr. '49 Sportsmanship Award as voted by her teammates.
Outside college sailing, in 2021 Montgomery placed first at the U.S. Parasailing Triplehanded championship. She has experience coaching and teaching adaptive sailing.
Montgomery currently lives in the Boston area and works in education consulting.
