PHILADELPHIA – The defense stood tall in Brown's (11-2-2, 5-0-1 Ivy) 1-0 victory over Penn (3-5-7, 0-4-2 Ivy) on Sunday afternoon at Penn Park. The game, televised nationally on ESPNU, showed why the Bears are receiving national praise as Brown allowed just one shot in 90 minutes.
With the win, Brown closes the regular season 5-1-1 overall away from the Center for Lacrosse and Soccer and with a win on Saturday, November 5, clinch its third consecutive Ivy League championship.
Ava Seelenfreund's goal at the 26:06 mark came off Sheyenne Allen's corner kick and it was all the Bears needed to remain atop the league. Brittany Raphino had a penalty kick saved and Lexi Quinn nearly found the top left at the 81:40 mark before a tip off the Penn goalkeeper.
Bella Schopp improved to 6-1-1 at goal.
