Â
ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown (4-3, 4-3 Ivy) spoiled Cornell's Senior Day celebrations as the men's swimming and diving defeated the Big Red (1-6, 0-6 Ivy), 186-114, on Saturday afternoon in Teagle Pool. The victory wrapped up the dual meet season for the Bears.
Â
"That was a great road win for us and an exciting way to wrap up the dual meet season," said Kevin Norman, Ollie '50 & Kay Patrell Men's Swimming & Diving Coaching Chair. "Cornell is always tough at home; they threw everything at us and had us on the ropes in the first half. We made some adjustments to our lineup and really used our depth to pull away from them. That was not an easy win and I am very proud of our toughness today."
Â
Michael Lincoln and Ben Hayes won the 200 free with times of 1:38.37 and 1:40.49, respectively.
Â
The 100 backstroke featured Bears go 1-2 with Zach Le-Nguyen (49.54) and Reid Arwood (50.37), and Chris Ma won the 200 butterfly, touching the line at 1:48.84.
Â
Trevor Labuda was the leader in the 3-meter with a score of 351.08.
Â
In the 100 free, Lincoln, Lucas Hess and Marcus Lee swept with finishes of 45.71, 46.04 and 46.12, respectively. Carlos Munoz Renteria won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:49.30 and two Bears tied for second (1:49.92) – Arwood and Le-Nguyen.
Â
Hayes and Vincent Huang won the 200 breaststroke at 2:02.79 and 2:03.27, and Ma earned his second win, this time in the 100 butterfly (49.09). The same happened with Labuda with the 1-meter win (300.45).
Â
Hayes earned another dub in the 200 IM (1:50.48). The "A" team of Jerry O'Mara, Hess, Tyler Lu and Lincoln sat atop the leaderboard in the 400 freestyle with a time of 3:02.05 to put the stamp on Brown's victory over Ivy League rival Cornell.
