Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Columbia 194-100

RESULTS
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown (3-2) men's swimming and diving defeated Columbia in a dual meet, 194-100, on Saturday afternoon at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
"It was a very exciting, hard-fought win for our program this afternoon," said Kevin Norman, Ollie '50 & Kay Patrell Men's Swimming & Diving Coaching Chair. "We have been training at a very high level since January 1st and I am so proud of the energy and effort the team brought today. Columbia is a very talented, well-coached team and we knew we would need to be ready. Picking up a W for our seniors in their last home meet meant a lot to our team."
Brown concludes its home slate 4-1 including the Bruno Invite win.
The 200 medley team of Zach Le-Nguyen, Vincent Huang, Horace Qiao and Jerry O'Mara earned four points with a second-place finish (1:30.95).
The 1000 yard freestyle featured three Bears atop the leaderboards; Mason Romantic (9:24.68), Aidan Wilson (9:29.44) and Nicolas Ortega (9:30.66).
In the 200 free, Michael Lincoln won with a time of 1:37.90, following by teammates Tyler Lu (1:40.46) and Nathan Depiero (1:42.21).
Le-Nguyen and Reid Arwood took two of the top three spots in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall at 50.15 and 50.61, respectively.
Ben Hayes led all competitors in the 200 butterfly, winning the event (1:48.87) and Lukas Scheidl placed third (1:51.03).
Trevor Labuda was the leader on the board in the 1-meter with a score of 324.75, followed by Nicholas Shen's 282.90 and John Byers' 277.73. Labuda, Shen and Byers also placed in the same order in the 3-meter.
The 100 free was swept by the Bears with Lincoln (45.06), Lucas Hess (45.70) and O'Mara (46.31) going 1-2-3, respectively.
Carlos Munoz Renteria won the 200 backstroke in 1:48.41 and Arwood placed third.
The 200 IM belonged to Hayes (1:49.33), with Scheidl (1:52.29) and Huang (1:52.67) following.
Brown's team of Hess, Lincoln, O'Mara and Lu won the 400 free relay to close out the meet (3:01.27).
