Volleyball to Host Bryant for Home Opener Tuesday Night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following a 2-1 start to the season over the weekend at the Bryant Invitational, the Brown women's volleyball team will open up its home schedule on Tuesday night with a matchup against in-state foe Bryant. The Bears defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 in the season-opener on Friday.
Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN (2-1):
- The Bears are coming off a Saturday split, falling 3-1 to Boston College before sweeping Holy Cross in the nightcap. Sophomore Cierra Jenkins finished with six kills, eight digs, and a match-high 22 assists to go with a .462 hitting percentage vs. Holy Cross. Sophomore Jilienne Widener had a match-high 12 kills for Brown and junior Kaitlyn Wong added 18 digs. Freshman Beau Vanderlaan added a match-high three blocks.
- Brown hit .309 in Saturday's sweep of Holy Cross, not allowing the Crusaders to score more than 17 points in any of the three sets.
- Kate Sheire and Widener lead the team with 30 kills apiece. Jenkins is averaging 8.27 assists per set while the team has combined for a .247 hitting percentage.
SCOUTING BRYANT (4-2):
- Bryant is off to a 4-2 start to the season, going 2-1 over the weekend at their own tournament, defeating Holy Cross 3-1, while falling 3-1 to both Brown and Boston College.
- The Bulldogs are hitting .235 as a team so far this season, which is tops in the Northeast Conference. They rank second in the NEC in assists per set (11.83), kills per set (13.35), and service aces per set (1.83). Defensively, they also rank second in the conference in blocks per set (2.02) and by limiting opponents to a .184 hitting percentage.
- Alysa Wright leads the team with a .336 hitting percentage, which ranks second in the NEC. She also leads the conference with 1.43 blocks per set.
- Bryant was tabbed third in the Northeast Conference preseason poll, and their 4-2 mark is the best record in the NEC this season.
