Men's water polo goes 2-1 in first day of Bruno Classic

PROVICDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's water polo team went 2-1 in its first day of competition at the Bruno Classic. The Bears fell to Santa Clara to start the day, but rebounded with win s over Austin and Wagner.
In the first game against Santa Clara, the Bears trailed 12-3 with 3:48 remaining the the third quarter. From there on out, Brown outscored Santa Clara 8-2, but it was too little too late as the time would expire on the Bears' comeback attempt.
In the second game against Austin, Brown used a two-goal cushion in the first quarter to lead them to a 15-13 victory as both sides were even throughout the last three frames. Cole Atwell led the team with five goals in the game, as Connor Enright had three and Ben Krishon had two.
In the third and final game of the day for the Bears, they got out to an 8-5 lead at halftime and carried that to a 15-12 win against Wagner. Evan Moore had three goals in the game and Andrew Penner and Kirshon each had two.
The Bears will continue play at the Bruno Classic tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 5 against Mercyhurst, Florida, and Gannon.
