PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's and coed sailing teams competed in three events from Saturday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 26. Highlights include a pair of second-place finishes for the coed team and a fourth-place finish for the women.
"I am really proud of the team on another great weekend all around," head coach John Mollicone said. "The Hoyt Trophy and the Salt Pond Invite came down to the last race for the overall team win and the Mrs. Hurst Bowl was a great overall performance with our women leading for much of the event."
At the Sherman Hoyt Trophy, the coed team finished in second out of 17 teams, falling short of first-place Harvard by only five points. Connor Nelson and Julia Reynolds finished sixth in the A-division out of 18 teams, while Jack Murphy and Madeleine Montagner came in second out of 17 in the B-division.
The coed team also competed at the Salt Pond Invite where they came in second out of 17 teams in this 20-race, two-division event. Emily Mueller and Francesca Edmans won the B-division and Hunter Zonnenberg and Lily Shore finished second in the A-division. Brown's second team finished sixth overall at the event.
The women's team sole event of the weekend was the Mrs. Hurst Bowl where they took fourth place out of 18 teams. A pair of teams finished sixth in each division, with Brielle Willoughby and Nora Ong in the A-division and Charlotte Costikyan, Isabel Cox, and Catherine Morrissette in the B-division.
The coed team continues competition next weekend at the Sister Esther, Danmark, and Moody Trophies. The women will compete at the Women's Atlantic Coast Qualifier.
