
Thompson Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Brown University senior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson (Austin, TX) has been named a CoSida Academic All-American Monday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Thompson, garnered Third Team Academic All-America honors. A Public Health concentrator at Brown, she compiled an impressive 3.82 grade point average. Thompson also received Academic All-District accolades in 2020.
Brown did not have a season last fall due to COVID-19. However, Thompson led the Ivy League in GAA (0.44), save percentage (.892) and shutouts (nine) in 2019. Those numbers helped the Bears win the Ivy title that season while earning Thompson First Team All-Ivy honors.
A transfer from West Virginia, Thompson strong play helped lead the Mountaineers to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and 2018 before she arrived on College Hill helping lead the Bears to the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
After taking a semester off, Thompson will return to the team this fall with the intention of graduating in December.
