TOKYO, JAPAN - Anders Weiss '16 will be competing in the Olympics for a second time when he rows in the men's four for Team USA. Weiss will be looking to improve on his 11th-place finish at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
A native of Barrington, Rhode Island, Weiss made the short 9-mile trip to College Hill in the fall of 2012 where he made an immediate impact on the men's crew team at Brown. He was an All-Ivy rower as a freshman and a sophomore as a member of the Varsity Eight.
"Anders came to us as a local guy out of the Narragansett Yacht Club," said Brown Men's Crew head coach Paul Cooke '89. "The fact that he is representing the United States for the second time in the Olympics is really quite extraordinary."
"He was always somebody that was able to step up his game on the big day," Cooke added. "If there is one thing that I would say about Anders is that, when it came to race day, he was always an exceptional performer for us. He put us into the medals many times, won some big races in the stroke seat and other places in the boat. He was just a big day guy."
