Men's & Women's Crew Compete at the U23 World Championships

RACICE, CZECH REPUBLIC – Brown University's crew programs were well-represented at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Racice, Czech Republic July 7-11 with four members of the men's team competing and one member of the women's team in action.

On the women's side, Izzy Aronin (Fr. – Larchmont, NY) served as coxswain for the United States in A Final of the Women's 8. Aronin helped lead Team USA to gold in the race (06:16.69) with the Netherlands (06:20.43) capturing silver and Germany (06:26.45) holding on for the bronze.

On the men's side, Gus Rodriguez (Jr. – Rye, NY) served as strokeman for Team USA in the Men's 8. The United States (05:34.55) was edged by Great Britain (05:34.34) in a very close race in the final capturing silver. Germany (05:35.58) placed third.

Willem Stoop (Fr. – Ouderkerk Aan De Amstel, Netherlands) raced as the bowman for his country which placed fifth in the Men's 8 Final with a time of 05:42.88.

Also competing for the Bears was Will Legenzowski (So. – Vista, NY) who competed for Team USA in the B Final of the Men's Single Sculls. Legenzowski took second in the B Final (8th overall) with a time of 07:17.08 just behind the sculler from Uruguay (07:16.94).

Finally, Simon Hatcher (Fr. – Portland, OR) raced for Team USA and placed second in the C Final in the Men's Double Sculls with a time of 06:27.59.
