WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Brown University men's crew placed fifth in the Ten Eyck team standings, ninth overall in the first varsity eight, eighth in the second varsity eight, and sixth in the third varsity eight, to conclude the second and final day of racing at the 2021 IRA National Championships on Saturday morning at Mercer Lake.
"I was impressed by the good spirit and unity this team brought to the championships," Brown head coach Paul Cooke said. "They were thrilled to be back on the racecourse, and they raced hard for each other. They were fun to be around."
In the Ten Eyck Team Trophy standings, Brown came in fifth with 277 points. Washington (260), California (244), Dartmouth (340), and Northeastern (314) took the top four spots. Navy (267), George Washington (257), Wisconsin (252), Syracuse (239), and Stanford (218) rounded out the top 10.
In the Bears' final race of the regatta, the first varsity eight finished third in the petite final for ninth overall and 110 team points. "I'm grateful for the support we have received from all the people who helped make it possible for us to compete," Cooke said.
