JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Brown men's track & field team wrapped up competition at the NCAA East Preliminary on Wednesday at the University of North Florida. The Bears had two student-athletes qualify for competition - junior Kegan Schroeter (Narragansett, R.I.) in the hammer throw and sophomore Kevin Fairchild (Phoenix, Ariz.) in the javelin.
"This is a very challenging environment the first time you experience it—I thought both Kevin and Kegan responded well to this challenge," said head coach Tim Springfield. "The experience they got today will pay dividends when they're back here next year."
Schroeter finished 20th overall (fifth in his flight) in the hammer throw with a toss of 207'7", which bested the career mark he set against Providence College on April 30 (207'4"). The throw of 207'7" also ranks third at Brown for top performances all-time.
In the javelin, Fairchild's top throw measured 205'9, which was 10th in his flight and 34th overall.
